Assurance of well integrity is key in oil production. Not only does poor well integrity lead to inefficient production, but can also cause adverse environmental impacts. Modern production wells are complex and constructed with a large number of elements. Maintenance therefore requires multi-disciplinary approaches involving quality construction, accurate structural assessment, and persistent monitoring of the operating conditions. This session presents an exposition of the recent developments on well design, construction, maintenance and assessment techniques to address the challenge with well barrier elements and integrity.
