Environmental Impact Analysis and Metocean Modeling Systems

Thursday 5 May
600
Technical / Poster Session
The metocean data gathered from 23 ocean sites around the United States includes measurements of wave, current, tide, surge variations, and other meteorological data. The analysis of this data is critical for assessing vessel maneuverability, designing offshore structure loads, and defining the overall underwater inspection strategy. This session discusses the different metocean marine modeling techniques and systems, including a walk-through new numerical tool used for investigating the offshore extreme operating environment patterns such as post hurricane events, building a next generation marine modeling system, and applications for evaluating performance of interest for offshore renewables wind energy design.
