The First Nations Major Project Coalition (FNMPC) is a national 100+ Indigenous nation collective working towards the enhancement of the economic well-being of its members, understanding that a strong economy is reliant upon a healthy environment supported by vibrant cultures, languages, and expressions of traditional laws. FNMPC is changing the way of doing business in Canada. Their unique business model is advancing the role of Indigenous groups in major energy projects. The FNMPC have made the decision to come together to advance shared interests of Indigenous ownership in the major projects taking place in Canada. FNMPC is currently providing business capacity support to its members on 8 major projects located across Canada, each with a First Nations equity investment component, and a portfolio exceeding a combined total capital cost of over $20 billion. FNMPC’s business capacity support includes tools that help First Nations inform their decisions on both the economic and environmental considerations associated with major project development. Niilo Edwards, Executive Director of the FNMPC, will share the details of this unique coalition, partners, energy projects and how Indigenous values are driving business deals. Mr. Edwards presentation will be beneficial for all stakeholders in energy projects with specific focus on clean fuels, carbon credits, critical minerals transportation and supply chain.
